I am Megha Kalia, a dedicated research scientist currently immersed in the world of artificial intelligence and machine learning at Harvard Medical School. With a passion for bridging technology and healthcare, my work predominantly focuses on surgical planning and medical robotics, which is both challenging and exhilarating.
My professional journey began with my Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, followed by a Master's in Medical Imaging and Machine Learning from IIT Kharagpur. Hungry for advanced knowledge, I pursued a PhD at the University of British Columbia, specializing in the Robotics and Control Lab. These experiences fueled my interest in developing cutting-edge algorithms for medical image analysis.
I've been privileged to work with renowned institutions such as Intuitive Surgical and Bosch, where I honed my skills in imaging and computer vision. As a Postdoctoral Researcher at Harvard, my focus is on transformative research that can significantly improve patient outcomes.
Outside of work, I am passionate about fostering environments that encourage diversity in tech. I was an executive committee member for Women in Engineering at UBC, advocating for female representation in STEM fields.
My work is founded on a commitment to innovation, reinforced by numerous awards including the Public Scholars Initiative Award and the Friedman Award for Scholars in Health. I enjoy collaborative problem-solving, and continuously strive to translate complex research into practical solutions.
